Tom Aitken A Pink Chaise Longue
Mozart Symphony No. 38 in D major K 504 (Prague)
Brahms Symphony No. 4 in E minor Op. 98
Tom Aitken’s short new piece is the winning entry in this year’s annual MCO Composers’ Competition. It shares the first half of the concert with one of Mozart’s best-known symphonies, the Prague.
Making a very welcome return to the MCO, our guest conductor, James Lowe, will direct “a symphony that ought to leave you intellectually battered and bruised rather than superficially consoled”. (Tom Service)
Brahms’s Fourth Symphony represents a powerful descent into melancholy – it is simply irresistible.
